I have not tried this as I am not good with plants. This is an old Amish way of making flowers grow. If you have ever lived near the Amish, you know they grow beautiful flowers, so you might want to try this.

LILACS TO LESSEN ACHES AND PAINS
When Spring weather, especially those rainy days, cause you to have those aggravating aches and pains, try putting a lovely lilac bouquet in one of the rooms you are in most often. A Brazilian study found that switching from a rose bouquet to a lilac one, could cut achiness by 73%. They say the aromatic compounds in lilacs can calm overactive pain nerves and even curb production of ache-causing inflammation, if you inhale them often. I say, lilacs over pain-pills any day.

That's right, research has shown that people who have fresh flowers in their homes feel happier and more energetic. Treat yourself, a friend or a loved one to a pretty bouquet. Perhaps this is why we have a tradition of sending flowers to those in hospitals, rehabs, etc.
