STORING GARLIC

Do you refrigerate your fresh garlic bulbs? I hope not, I used to until I did a little research. Fresh garlic bulbs should be kept in a cool dry place. Keep them in your pantry in a ventilated container; airtight containers will cause them to mold pretty quickly. Garlic stored properly should keep for months. But once you have broken into the head of garlic, all cloves should be used in about 10 days.

Remember Garlic is a superfood. Use is regularly!

"LET FOOD BE YOUR MEDICINE" Vll

Continuing the series about foods as medicine, we reach number 7. Number 7 is garlic and other allium family members. Those family members include garlic, onions, leeks, shallots and scallions. According to the American Institute for Cancer Reasearch, research shows probable evidence the foods listed above reduce the risk of developing common cancers. I believe that is enough to make sure at least some of these foods are included in your diet on a regular basis.

EAT GARLIC DURING COLD AND FLU SEASON

As we head toward Fall with its cold and flu season you may want to up your intake of garlic. Yes, garlic - that smelly garlic is very good for you!  One of garlic's important health benefits is that it helps the immune system by increasing the production of white-blood cells.  White-blood cells are disease fighters and we all want a good healthy supply of them.  The good thing about garlic is that it can be used in so many foods such as soups, sauces, marinades, etc.
